Siberian Ice Marathon receives international status

The world’s coldest running competition has been given international status – the marathon has become a full member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

 

In a wire addressed to Andrey Sandalkin, Marathon non-profit partnership Race Director, AIMS President Paco Borao noted: “I am pleased to advise that the Siberian Ice Marathon’s application for the AIMS membership has been approved. I wish you and your team good luck in organizing the event and hope that our Association will contribute to its success.”

 

Thus, there are already two running competitions officially holding international status in the Omsk Oblast!

 

According to Konstantin Podbelsky, Omsk Oblast Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Physical Education and Sports, AIMS membership will result in more foreign sportsmen and visitors at the SIM and promote the marathon abroad.
